Title: Air Born Hunt |
Description: In this poster Louis Brau fancifully combines two popular sports of the day, hunting and aviation. In his illustration of a hunt in the air, Brau creatively juxtaposes countryside pumpkin patches, geese, homes, and churches with early Wright biplanes replacing the traditional horses in this rabbit hunt. Three biplanes carry hunters in red English style petticoats with bugles and rifles, while women and children passively watch the sporting event. Two children on the ground in wooden Dutch clogs chase geese oblivious to the hunt, as the threatened hare flees in the opposite direction along a dirt path away from dogs and airplane. In this illustration, Brau effectively intertwines modern technology with nostalgic childhood nursery rhyme images.
