Description: On Saturday, September 9 the 2nd Brigade performed an air show and parachute display. The air show commenced at 2:00 in the Hippodrome at Capentras located in the south of France near Avignon. The day continued until 6:00. Public attendants of the air show were urged to utilize bus services in attempts to prevent crowding. The program for the day began with a presentation of flying equipment which included airplanes and helicopters, followed by a demonstration of flying exercises from parachutists. Next a demonstration of high altitude flying, and a parachuting competition. To conclude the day of aerial sport, the parachutists revealed their expertise by landing in unison. The air show was accompanied by music from the Foreign Legion of the 11th Parachute Division, the 4th Aerial Region, and the Marines. The air show served to further promote public interest in military parachutes and aviation. |
