Description:
St. Germain, May 21, Grand
International Air Gala. Organized
by "Air Propaganda" and the journal
"Le Petit Parisien."
On May 21, 1933, One hundred
thousand spectators gathered at the
St. Germain Aerodrome in Paris for
the "Grand International Air Gala."
It was a day filled with many
exciting flights by the famous
european flyers and stuntmen. The
program included an acrobat
performing tricks on a flying
trapeze, a woman parachute jumper,
graceful acrobatic maneuvers by a
towed glider, and aerobatic stunt
flying performances by Miss Liesel
Bach, Maurice Finat, Michel
Detroyat, Gerhard Fieseler, and
others. Fieseler was the highlight
of the aerobatic flights; the German
master stunt flyer delighted the
crowd with an assortment of
maneuvers including upside down
flips, vertical zooms, ‘leaf drops’,
and ‘loop the loops’ done while
flying upside down as well as right
side up.
