Description:
This French WWII recruitment poster for the 25th Infantry Airborne Division depicts a parachutist in uniform. The parachutist, dressed in a beret bearing the French army insignia, wears a pin bearing a parachute and wings signifying his division.
French cities hosted training for various parachute divisions. The city of Bayonne specialized in training, transmissions, and material. The city of Pau housed the 18th regiment of Parachutists. The city of Tarbes housed the 1st regiment Hussards parachutists and the 33rd regiment of artillery parachutists. The city of Castres housed the 13th regiment of Dragon parachutists. The city of Toulouse housed the 14th Demi Brigade of infantry, and Montauban housed the 19th parachutist infantry. The city of Castelsarrasin housed the 17th Genie parachutists, and Albi housed the 475th artillery AA parachutist group.
These posters were created in order to aid in recruiting members for the parachutist division and for the specific purpose of encouraging nationalism.
