This poster advertises the German film Tempete Sur Le Mont-Blanc. The film Tempete Sur Le Mont-Blanc takes place in an isolated winter observatory high in the snow capped mountains. Hannes Wetterwart (played by Sepp Rist) lives in the observatory. Hannes’ only connection to the town Aubenwelt is his radio and his pilot friend Ernst Udet. Hannes falls in love with the daughter of a German astronomer, Hella Armstrong (played by Leni Riefenstahl). Every evening Hannes exchanges messages with Hella and every day he meets with her father until a snow storm hits and Hannes becomes trapped in the observatory. Hella calls for assistance and Hannes is rescued at the last moment.

Tempete Sur Le Mont-Blanc (The Storm Over The White Mountain) is a film by the German director Doctor Arnold Fanck. Fanck was a doctor of geology and a pioneer in the field of mountain films. Fanck manifested his passion for mountain climbing in a series of post World War I documentary and fiction films, initiating a trend which later became a popular genre in German cinema. In German, the film is entitled Sturme uber dem MontBlanc/Avalanche.

Film production was handled by the German company Tobis. Tobis, or Tonbild Syndicat, as it is generally known, was formed in 1928 and produced many films outside Germany through a French subsidiary.
