Description:

The Victorious Wings - starring Nungesser, the hero of the air. Grand adventure series in 7 parts - shot by Nungesser before he left for the Atlantic.

This French movie poster advertises "The Victorious Wings" a seven part series starring Captain Charles Nungesser, a World War I hero who was one of the most celebrated Flying Aces in the French Air Corps. During this military career he shot down at least 45 enemy aircraft and won 21 medals. After the War he made films in both America and France. "The Victorious Wings" was filmed shortly before his attempt to be the first to fly non-stop across the Atlantic from Paris to New York. He left Paris on May 8, 1927 but disappeared only days before Charles Lindberg made his own successful non-stop flight to Paris. No trace of Nungesser or his co-pilot Francois Coli was ever found, and it wasn’t until 1930 that a successful non-stop fight was made from Paris to New York City.
